Office Hours for TAs
MIT TAs: Bring your questions and take away ideas on supporting student learning.
Each term, TLL hosts a series of open Office Hours for TAs. Why? So that you have the opportunity to ask questions about teaching and get ideas for how to best support student learning. Office Hours for TAs are open to TAs from any discipline and NO REGISTRATION is necessary. Just drop in!
Schedule for Fall 2016:
Thursday, September 15th from 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.; LOCATION: E39-207
Tuesday, September 27th from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.; LOCATION: E39-207
Thursday, October 13th from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.; LOCATION: E39-207
Wednesday, November 16th from 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.; LOCATION: E39-207
There are so many context-based factors to consider when teaching. Come and tell us about your teaching context and we can collaboratively brainstorm ideas for addressing your teaching challenges. Groups of TAs from the same class are also welcome! We can help you think about ways to:
- Engage students and provide more active learning opportunities.
- Encourage student interactions with you and with each other.
- Organize and present materials.
- Create meaningful problems and demos for students.
- Motivate students.
- Determine if your students are “getting it.”
If you are NOT able to attend the scheduled OFFICE HOURS or have a question that needs to be addressed in a more timely fashion, please submit a TLL Request for Individual Consultation form or call Leann Dobranski (617-253-3371) and we will put you in touch with the appropriate TLL staff member.
