Courses for Graduate Students in Teaching, Learning, and Academic Skills
Four classes have been developed to help improve the teaching skills of MIT doctoral students in preparation for academic careers:
- Teaching College-Level Science (5.95, 7.95J, 18.049J, 8.395J)
- Communication Skills for Academics (15.289), which is taught as part of the curriculum of the MIT Sloan School of Management, has a four-week component on teaching.
- 21F.217 Workshop in Strategies for Effective Teaching: ELS (21F.217) is designed for international teaching assistants and covers special problems in teaching when English is a second language and the USA a second culture.
- Advanced Speaking & Critical Listening Skills: ELS (21F.232/233) is designed to provide practice in effective communication skills for international graduate students interested in teaching or working in the U.S.
