Metacognition
Metacognition is the process by which learners use knowledge of the task at hand, knowledge of learning strategies, and knowledge of themselves to plan their learning, monitor their progress towards a learning goal, and then evaluate the outcome.
Self-regulation
Self-regulated learning is not an innate ability, but rather a skill set that can be developed to help students direct themselves through the process of learning.
Worked Examples
Worked examples are step-by-step illustrations of the process required to complete a task or solve a problem. In a worked example, students are provided with the task or problem formulation, the procedure or the step-by-step process for solving the problem, and the solution.
